Lansing legislative experience, support from the grassroots wing of the Michigan Republican Party and a path to a smooth convention vote later this month were all reasons for GOP insiders to be excited about state Rep. Jay DeBoyer (R-Clay) as Republican gubernatorial candidate John James’s running mate in the November general election.
